Balalaya Kumbhabhishegam Ceremony at the Arulmigu Sree Ganeshar Temple

Today, the Penang Hindu Endowments Board had the honor of witnessing the Balalaya Kumbhabhishegam Ceremony at the Arulmigu Sree Ganeshar Temple in Penang. Held on 23rd February 2025 (Sunday) from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, this sacred ritual marked the temporary transfer of divine energy as the temple embarks on an essential renovation journey.
Established over a century ago by early Indian settlers, the temple has long served as a spiritual and cultural beacon in our community. Under the esteemed leadership of RSN Rayer, Jelutong, Chairman of the Penang Hindu Endowments Board, and Dato Sri Kumarendran of Balathandayuthapani Hilltop Temple, the renovation project aims to enhance the temple’s structure while preserving its rich legacy. With completion anticipated by November 2025, we eagerly look forward to the grand Maha Kumbhabhishegam.
The presence of around 300 devoted devotees, along with PHEB Commissioners, showcased a powerful display of faith and unity. This ceremony is not just about renovations—it’s a heartfelt commitment to safeguarding our cultural and spiritual heritage.
We extend our gratitude to the temple committee and all who participated in this auspicious occasion. May Lord Ganesha continue to bless and guide us on this sacred journey.

PHEB’s Grand Pongal Celebration at Arulmigu Sri Ramar Temple 🎉

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) hosted a vibrant and culturally rich Pongal celebration on 1st February 2025 at Arulmigu Sri Ramar Temple. This year, the event moved from PHEB’s office in Jalan Macalister to the temple, bringing the festivities closer to the heart of the community.
The celebration was officiated by YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang, and attended by esteemed guests, including YB Ram Karpal, YB RSN Rayer, YB Senator Dr. Lingeshwaran, YB Kumaran Krishnan, Dato Dhinagaran, Mr. Shangkar, and other PHEB commissioners. Temples under PHEB’s management, along with various NGOs, actively participated, making it an inclusive and memorable occasion.
Highlights of the event included a Pongal cooking competition, a kolam (rangoli) contest, and a children’s coloring competition. Visitors also enjoyed free henna drawing, traditional bullock cart rides, classical dance performances, and an exhilarating Silambam (Tamil martial art) showcase. A 360° camera rotation studio added a modern and interactive twist to the celebrations.

This event not only honored Tamil heritage and agricultural traditions but also strengthened community bonds, cultural pride, and spirituality.

A heartfelt thank you to YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, YB Ram Karpal, and all our distinguished guests for their presence and support. We also extend our gratitude to the participants, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making this celebration a grand success.
