As the Gold and Silver Chariots made their grand return to Queen Street Maha Mariamman Temple and Kovil Veedu, we bid farewell to Thaipusam 2025—a celebration that showcased the unwavering faith and unity of Hindus in Penang.

This year, Balathandayuthapani Temple, under the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB), worked hand in hand with Nattukottai Chettiar Temple, setting aside differences to ensure a harmonious and grand celebration. With a record-breaking crowd of over 1.5 million devotees, the festival remained peaceful and well-organized, a testament to the dedication of volunteers, authorities, and all involved.

Thaipusam 2025 was more than just a religious event—it was a symbol of unity, discipline, and deep-rooted faith. Let us continue to uphold this spirit of togetherness, ensuring that our traditions thrive for generations to come.

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board was honored to host the Vel Pooja today, joined by Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and YB Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Finance Minister. This sacred ritual seeks divine blessings before the Golden Chariot embarks on its grand journey to Balathandayuthapani Hilltop Temple.
Tomorrow at 6 AM, the Golden Chariot will depart from Queen Street Mahamariamman Temple, carrying Lord Murugan’s vel through the streets of Penang. We invite all devotees to join in this auspicious celebration of faith, devotion, and community.
