On this auspicious day, the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB), chaired by RSN Rayer, Jelutong , hosted vibrant Ponggal celebrations at the Hilltop Waterfall Temple and Waterfall Vinayagar Temple. 🎉
Devotees and visitors gathered to offer prayers and join in the festivities, marking this traditional harvest festival dedicated to thanking the Sun and the farm animals that bless us with a bountiful harvest.
The symbolic overflowing of milk during the preparation of Ponggal (sweet rice) represents abundance, prosperity, and blessings for all. 🌾
Other temples under PHEB’s administration will also celebrate Ponggal in the coming days.

Today, the Commissioners of the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) were deeply honored to participate in the Mandalaaabishegam Ubayam held at the renowned Nattukottai Chettiar (Waterfall) Temple. This blessed event brought devotees together in a spirit of unity and sincerity, as prayers were offered to seek the grace of the Almighty.
Mandalaaabishegam is a revered tradition symbolizing spiritual renewal, purification, and a profound connection between devotees and the Divine. The temple resonated with sacred chants and heartfelt prayers, creating an atmosphere of deep reverence and collective spirituality.
One of the most touching highlights of the day was the provision of lunch for nearly 500 devotees. This act of service was made possible through the personal contributions of our dedicated commissioners, who generously supported the ubayam and the meal preparation. Their commitment reflects the spirit of community leadership and selfless service, inspiring us all to continue giving back to society.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Penang Hindu Sangam, Penang Hindu Mamandram, the Penang Hindu Association, and other Hindu NGOs for their support and active participation.
