In anticipation of a larger number of devotees for Thaipusam 2026, the Penang Hindu Endowments Board convened the Thaipusam Panthal Operators Meeting — the important first step in ensuring smooth, safe, and meaningful celebrations ahead.

The meeting was chaired by YB Rsn Rayer, and attended by Board Commissioners, representatives from MBPP’s Jabatan Pembangunan, PDRM, Hilltop Temple Management, Malaysia Hindhu Dharma Mamandram [Penang], and the Malaysia Hindu Sangam Penang State Council. The Board extends its gratitude to all Panthal operators, temple representatives, and community members who attended and shared their input. Together, we begin the journey towards another successful and harmonious Thaipusam in Penang.

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board proudly held the Appointment Ceremony for Chairpersons of Temple Management Committees under its administration on 5 October 2025 (Sunday) at SJK (T) Ramakrishna Hall, Penang.
The ceremony formally appointed the new chairpersons of various temple management committees and included the signing of the Corruption-Free Pledge — a key step in strengthening administrative structure and ensuring transparent and accountable governance across temples.
The event was attended by representatives from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM), serving as strategic partners in promoting integrity and good governance.
A special dialogue session with SPRM was also held, focusing on the importance of integrity, responsibility, and corruption-free practices within temple management.

Audit of the Financial Statements of the PHEB for the year ended 31 December 2024
✅ The closing meeting for the audit of the financial statements of the Penang Hindu Endowments Board for the year ended 31 December 2024 was successfully held today at the National Audit Department, Penang State Office, Bertam, Kepala Batas.
We were joined by Board Commissioners Dato’ Hitendra Joshi and Mr. V. Krishna Murthy Naidu a/l Vartharaju.
This milestone reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance in serving the community.
The Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) continues its commitment to education with a special session for SPM students — exploring pathways after SPM, scholarship opportunities, and initiatives under the Board.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Punithan Shan and Dr. Sujan Shan, who travelled from Kuala Lumpur to share their time and insights with our students. Their inspiring message was clear: knowledge alone is not enough — what matters most is having the courage to set the right goals and pursue them with focus.

Undial Counting at Sree Maha Mariamman Temple, Butterworth
The sacred ritual of Undial counting took place at Sree Maha Mariamman Temple, Butterworth. For the past two years, the PHEB Commissioners have been personally present throughout the counting process — a task that can take hours.
This commitment by the Penang Hindu Endowments Board, together with the Temple Management Committee, reflects not only accountability but also the shared dedication to preserving the sanctity of our temples and the trust of the community.
Appointment Of The Penang Hindu Endowments Board Chairman And Deputy Chairman
The Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB), established under the Hindu Endowments Ordinance of 1906, for the term of 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026, held its first official meeting today following the recent appointments of new commissioners effective 1 August 2025. The Board comprises a total of 19 commissioners.
The Board is pleased to announce that YB RSN Rayer, Jelutong has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board, while YB Senator Lingeshwaran R Arunasalam has been appointed as the Deputy Chairman.
The Penang Hindu Endowments Board operates under the supervision of the Ministry of National Unity, and all audit reports are tabled in Parliament. For matters related to state affairs, YB Sundarrajoo Somu, Penang State Executive Council Member, will coordinate on behalf of the State Government.
