TOP SCORER SPM 2023’ PROGRAM
Penang Hindu Endowments Board is pleased to announce the launch of the “Top Scorer SPM 2023” program, aimed at recognizing students who achieve the highest scores ( 7As and above ) in the 2023 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) examination. Each top scorer will be honoured with a token of appreciation amounting to RM 500.

Shree Gangatharan Shivaperuman Temple Ground Breaking Ceremony

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board received a special invitation from the Shree Gangatharan Shiva Peruman Devotees Association to attend the groundbreaking ceremony (Piling Works) graced by YB Senator Dr. Lingesh RA , Ybhg. Dato’ J Dhina Dhina , and YB Kumaran Krishnan.
 
The 1-acre site, owned by PHEB, has been authorized for the construction of the Shree Gangatharan Shivaperuman Temple in Taman Bagan, Butterworth. The ceremony began with ‘Ganapathy Homa’ and ‘Vasthu Pooja’ before the piling and construction works commenced.
 
The filling work began at 11 am and was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests:

YB Senator Saraswathy Kandasamy, the Hon’ble Deputy Minister for Entrepreneur Development and Co-operatives, returned to her hometown of Penang to celebrate International Museum Day 2024! 🎉
 
Born and raised in Little India, Penang, YB Saraswathy had the honor of launching the Program Muzium Bersama Komuniti (Museum Program with the Community). During the event, she extended her support to the local community by providing Rahmah aid to five Indian single mothers from the B40 group.
 
Following the event, YB Saraswathy visited the Queen Street Maha Mariamman Temple, managed by the Penang Hindu Endowments Board, to pay her respects and engage with the local community.

On the 18th of May 2024, the Heritage Institution of the National Heritage Board in Singapore visited the Penang Indian Heritage Museum. The purpose of their visit was to understand the museum’s role in fostering community engagement and contributing to heritage preservation. They sought to learn about the strategies, programs, and best practices implemented by the museum to achieve these objectives. Additionally, they aimed to gain insights into our community engagement and heritage preservation initiatives and explore potential opportunities for collaboration or knowledge sharing.
 
During their visit, we conducted a comprehensive site tour and engaged in detailed discussions, allowing the visitors to achieve their objectives. They were impressed by the museum’s efforts and expressed interest in future collaborations. The visit was a valuable opportunity to share our experiences and establish a connection with the Heritage Institution of the National Heritage Board in Singapore for mutual benefit.

The members of the Malaysian Muthamizh Sangam visited our museum today. They not only shared many interesting stories and historical facts but also expressed how the place evoked fond old memories for them. They conveyed heartfelt thanks to the Penang Hindu Endowments Board for establishing Malaysia’s first Indian Heritage Museum. The honorable Datuk Seri Raju welcomed the group, engaged in discussions, and hosted a lunch to honor them.
 
மலேசிய முத்தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தின் உறுப்பினர்கள் நம் அருங்காட்சியகத்திற்கு இன்று வருகை புரிந்தனர். பல சுவாரஸ்யமான கதைகளையும் வரலாற்றையும் பகிர்ந்ததோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல் பசுமையான பழைய நினைவுகளை இந்த இடம் தட்டியெழுப்பியது என மனம் நெகிழ்ந்தனர். மலே‌சியாவின் முதல் இந்திய மரபியல் அருங்காட்சியகத்தை உருவாக்கிய பினாங்கு இந்து அறப்பணி வாரியத்திற்கு மன மார்ந்த நன்றியினை தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டனர். மரியாதைக்குரிய டத்தோ ஸ்ரீ ராஜு அவர்களும் இந்த குழுவினரை வரவேற்று, கலந்துரையாடி மற்றும் மதிய உணவினையும் வழங்கி சிறப்பித்தார்.

Dr. Kasturi Bhattacharjee visits the Penang Indian Heritage Museum

YBrs. Dr. Prashant, the Director of Bukit Mertajam General Hospital, YBrs. Dr. Goh Hin Kwang, the Director of Pulau Pinang General Hospital, and Dr. Kasturi Bhattacharjee, an ophthalmologist from India, recently visited the Penang Indian Heritage Museum.
 
We had the pleasure of introducing them to the rich Penang Indian and Malaysian Indian cultures during a short tour of the museum. Dr. Kasturi was particularly impressed with our extensive collection of antiques and artifacts, remarking that it felt like seeing India in Penang.
 
She praised the museum’s efforts in keeping India’s heritage vibrant in Malaysia, calling it a source of pride for all Indians.
 
We extend our gratitude to Dr. Prashant and Dr. Goh Hin Kwang for bringing Dr. Kasturi to our museum.
