Thaipusam 2026 in Penang concluded on a highly positive note, earning recognition as one of the cleanest, safest and most orderly celebrations in the state, following improved crowd management measures and strong multi-agency collaboration.
 
The Penang Hindu Endowment Board (LWHNPP) said the three-day celebration was conducted peacefully and in a well-coordinated manner, with close cooperation among devotees, government agencies, enforcement authorities, volunteers and temple management committees.

Overall, the 2026 Thaipusam celebration at the Penang state level proceeded in an orderly, smooth, and safe manner as planned.
 
“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Penang Contingent deployed 1,280 personnel to ensure the safety of all devotees, visitors, and road users throughout the celebration,” he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday.

Kerajaan Negeri menyumbangkan sumbangan RM240,000 kepada Kuil Thanneermalai Shree Balathandayuthapani sempena kejayaan penganjuran perayaan Thaipusam di negeri ini sejak 240 tahun dahulu.
 
Menyentuh mengenai perkembangan infrastruktur di Kuil Thanneermalai Shree Balathandayuthapani pula, projek pembinaan ‘people mover’ kini memasuki fasa baharu selepas kajian kebolehlaksanaan selesai dijalankan, malah setakat ini, syarikat berkaitan telah membentangkan tiga pilihan reka bentuk kepada Lembaga Wakaf Hindu Negeri Pulau Pinang (PHEB) untuk pertimbangan dan penelitian lanjut sebelum fasa seterusnya dilaksanakan.

A delegation led by YB Ramkarpal Singh, YB RSN Rayer, Jelutong, YB Senator Dr. Lingeshwaran R Arunasalam, and MBPP Mayor Dato’ Ir. Rajendran P. Anthony visited MBPP enforcement officer Muhammad Amirul Ashraf, who is recovering from injuries sustained in the gas-balloon fire incident at Lebuh Union on 1 February 2026.
 
During the visit, financial assistance was presented by YB Senator Dr. Lingeshwaran on behalf of the Penang Hindu Endowments Board, while YB Ramkarpal also extended a personal contribution to help ease the burden on the officer and his family.
 
May Amirul be blessed with a swift and complete recovery. The sacrifices and commitment of our enforcement personnel in maintaining the safety and order of our city are valued by the entire community.
