Ayya Vaira Bharathi Visit Penang Indian Heritage Museum
We were truly honoured to host Ayya Vaira Bharathi, great-grandson of the legendary Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiyaar, at the Penang Indian Heritage Museum today.
His visit brought a heartfelt warmth to our museum, and we were deeply touched by his appreciation for the heritage we safeguard. In a beautiful and spontaneous moment, Ayya Vaira Bharathi even composed a poem specially for our museum — a gift we will always cherish.
As the descendant of one of India’s most iconic literary figures, his presence was a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving and honouring our cultural narratives. We are grateful for his kind words, his passion, and his recognition of the Indian community’s heritage in Penang.
Thank you, Ayya Vaira Bharathi, for gracing us with your presence and celebrating our shared history.
Bakul Keperluan Harian (Daily Needs Basket) at Kuil Sri Sakthi Vinayagar
Featured Community Initiative at Kuil Sri Sakthi Vinayagar, Jalan Fettes Park!
Under the Penang Hindu Endowments Board and the dedicated leadership of Mr. Ganesan, the temple has introduced the Bakul Keperluan Harian (Daily Needs Basket) — a meaningful act of seva for the community.
A simple, powerful principle drives this initiative:
“Give what you can, take what you need.”
If you’re facing difficulties, you’re welcome to visit the temple and collect essential groceries. If you’re in a position to help, your contributions will go directly towards supporting families in need.
This is a PHEB-managed effort committed to uplifting the Fettes Park community — every act of kindness makes a real impact.
Resurfacing Works at Thanneermalai Shree Balathandayuthapani Devasthanam
A heartfelt thank you to Ahli Majlis MBPP Mr. Soresh for the successful resurfacing works at Thanneermalai Shree Balathandayuthapani Devasthanam.
With the support of MBPP and his own personal contribution, the road has been restored beautifully for all devotees.
Your dedication, service, and commitment to the community truly make a difference. 🙏
This upgrade comes at the perfect time as we prepare for the upcoming consecration ceremony of Shree Ganeshar Waterfall Temple. A smoother, safer path for all devotees — just in time.
Visit to Sree Dharma Muniswaran Temple in Air Itam
Penang Hindu Endowments Board received complaints from the temple management after the old Sree Dharma Muniswaran Temple in Air Itam was closed by MBPP yesterday due to renovations carried out without approval, causing dissatisfaction among the Hindu community in Penang.
Early this morning at 7 a.m., Dr. Lingeshwaran R Arunasalam , representing PHEB, along with Dato’ Bandar Dato’ Rajendran, Council Member Tuan Visva, and PHEB commissioners Dato’ Dhinagaran Jayabalan and Dato’ Parthipan, visited the temple to facilitate its reopening so the public could continue their prayers.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lingeshwaran advised the TMC to obtain the necessary approval from MBPP before proceeding with any further renovation work. He also reminded the public that before renovating any temple, approval must be obtained from the local council to avoid complaints and the risk of the temple being closed.
